This site is a virtual library of short video memoirs collected from students passing by the Nova Southeastern University Alvin Sherman Library on 29 January 2020 as part of NSU’s Story Booth series.

Memoirs are personal accounts focused on a particular event or moment in time. Similar to autobiographies, the author describes their perspective on an experience. Memoirs are different from autobiographies as memoirs focus on a particular moment and not the author's entire life. They often look into moments of transformation, confession, or travel, but they are not limited to these categories [1]. They can also be about adversity, love, humor, tradition, or any other moment the author wants to share. The beauty of memoirs is that they provide a magnified snapshot into a person’s life. You get to see what the author was feeling and experiencing in that moment. Memoirists are not tied to realism or fact when writing and have the freedom to express their raw and uncut perceptions and feelings. Memoirists are bold by sharing their story, emotions, and struggles. These stories can be empowering, sad, exciting, humorous, and even enlightening.
